Bloc Party announce 'Talons'

Following the "hot off the press" release of their latest album Intimacy, Bloc Party announce details of their brand new single Talons to be released through Wichita Recordings on 20 October’08.  Talons, produced by 'Silent Alarm' producer Paul Epworth, is not featured on the band's latest album which was given a surprise digital release via the band’s website last month.  However the single will be included, along with other new songs, on the physical version of the album released in October.  For all of those who have already bought or pre-ordered the album the single will be available to download for free.
 
Talking about Talons singer Kele said, “we wanted to keep things fresh and we thought the fans would be more excited to get a new song rather than something off the album. Talons is one of the last songs we recorded during the Intimacy sessions and I always had it in mind to be one of the extra tracks we promised for the CD if it turned out well.  It turned out great so we decided to make it the next single.  I’m enjoying this way of working, not over-thinking things, just make a decision and get on with it!  It’s quite liberating in a way, I’m sure it’s going to be the way things happen more and more in the future”.
 
Talons will be released on 2 x 7” and CD.  Remixes come from The Moody Boyz, XXXChange, FrankMusik, Midfield General and Phones.
 
Bloc Party, currently touring in North America, return to the UK to play a Q Awards show at London’s Kentish Town Forum on Tuesday 30th September 2008, all tickets for the gig sold out within ten minutes of going on sale last month. Following the London show the band head off to Brazil to perform at the South American MTV awards before continuing their world tour in support of the new album. The tour is expected to stop-off at North and South America, Japan, Australia and Hawaii before the end of the year. UK dates are also to be announced in the near future.
